In accordance with article 5.6 of the cao, you can choose to work two hours more or less than the standard working week of 38 hours. If you work 40 hours a week you accumulate 96 extra hours of leave. If you work 36 hours you then surrender 96 hours of leave. If you do not make a choice here, the standard working week of 38 hours with the associated leave balance of 232 hours applies.
If you work part-time the regulation applies in direct proportion to your contracted hours. Working hours are rounded up or down to half hours.
Employees who make use of a senior regulation are excluded from participation.
You will find below a number of examples of working weeks with the associated options for flexible working hours and accumulating leave. More examples can be found in Appendix G of the cao.

You make an arrangement for flexible working hours with your manager. You can use the Application Form Flexible Working Hours for this. If circumstances arise that make it necessary to revise this arrangement you should discuss this with your manager.
You are expected to take the leave you have accumulated during the year that you have accumulated it. In exceptional cases, the employee can reach an agreement with the employer (that is to say: the mandate-holder and not the manager) about saving the leave for a longer period of leave, known as the long-term savings plan. You then save for a period of three, four or five years. You can use a maximum of 72 leave hours for this annually. Further information about the long-term savings option.
The agreement you have made about your working week remains unchanged in the event of illness or incapacity. After six months of illness the agreements you have made lapse and the formal working hours apply.
You can find further information in article 5.6 of the cao.
