Responsibilities of the Executive Board

The Executive Board is responsible for the overall management and administration of Leiden University.

The Executive Board determines the Management and Administration Regulation. The Board also delegates to the Faculty Boards responsibility for organising and co-ordinating how the management activities are implemented.

In the interests of promoting an integrated management structure, the Executive Board has mandated many of the operational management responsibilities to the Faculty Boards, the Directors of the non-Faculty departments, the central departments and the University service centres. The Executive Board retains final responsibility for operational management of the University and is authorised to issue instructions to the mandate holders with regard to the implementation of their responsibilities.

The members of the Executive Board are appointed and dismissed by the Board of Governors.
