Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) and regulations
Important matters for staff are generally laid down in regulations. These can be national regulations or ones specially enacted for our university. One of the most important of these is the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Further regulations can be found in the different sections.

The CAO regulates the terms of employment of university staff and is an integral part of the employment contract. A number of conditions from the CAO have been further developed to create separate regulations for Leiden University, such as the Leiden University Regulation on the Commuting Allowance 2015.

The Colllective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities was extend by one year on 2 July 2016.
Alongside regulations on terms of employment, the University also has a number of codes of conduct.
