What is Erasmus+?
Erasmus+ is the European subsidy programme for the stimulation of education, training, youth and sports. It offers divers opportunities for requesting subsidies for exchange and international education projects.
For the period 2014-2020 fifteen billion euros have been reserved by the European Commission.
The Erasmus+ programme comprises the following three key actions:
• Key Action 1: Mobility
o Mobility of students and staff in Europe
o Mobility of students and staff outside Europe
o Erasmus Mundus joint Master degrees
• Key Action 2: Strategic partnerships
o Strategic partnerships
o Knowledge alliances and sector skills alliances
o Capacity building in the field of higher education
Key action 1 includes Erasmus student grants and joint programmes. Since 2015 it has also been possible to apply for Erasmus grants for exchanges with institutions outside Europe.
Key action 2 concerns collaboration projects that have as their goal the improvement and innovation of education in Europe. This action comprises the following subsidy options: strategic partnerships (sectoral or multi-sector), knowledge alliances (with business) and capacity building (modernising education in partner countries).
